Two days. One iconic tournament. A fantastic weekend of Scottish football — CAPTURED BY PEACOCK.

DAY 1 SESSIONS

The afternoon session set the standard, but the night evening action at Braehead Arena raised it again with lots of goals, skill, physicality, and sendings-off.

Rangers produced the standout performance of the evening, making it two wins from two in Group C and taking their goal tally to an impressive 14. Their evening was highlighted by a remarkable 7–1 Old Firm demolition victory with Martyn Waghorn bagging 5 goals, a result that firmly underlined their credentials.

Elsewhere, St Johnstone and Motherwell also maintained perfect records. St Johnstone edged past both Dundee clubs by a single goal to stay top of Group B, while Motherwell impressed in Group A with strong victories over Falkirk and Hearts.

The Edinburgh clubs had one win apiece in Group A, with Hearts taking the derby honours against Hibernian, while Aberdeen, Falkirk and St Mirren were still searching for their first points.

With the final round of group matches still to come, the race for qualification was perfectly set up for another big day of action at Braehead Arena.

More goals, more drama and plenty more was to come as the battle for a place in the finals continued.

DAY 2 FINALS DAY

It may have taken 33 years, but the Tennent’s Sixes finally has a new set of champions — and what a way to decide it.

Celtic lifted the new trophy after a thrilling 5–4 victory over Rangers in the Final, capping an extraordinary weekend of indoor football at Braehead Arena.

The result was made even more remarkable by the fact that Rangers had beaten Celtic 7–1 earlier in the tournament, and had looked like the team to beat throughout the weekend. Rangers finished as the competition’s top scorers with 33 goals, compared with Celtic’s 27, but when it mattered most, Celtic produced an inspired display to turn the tables on their Old Firm rivals.

Fans were treated to two days of relentless action as stars of years gone by rolled back the clock, producing goals, drama, rivalries and moments that reminded everyone why the Tennent’s Sixes remains such a fondly remembered part of Scottish football.

The knockout stages delivered plenty of drama of their own.

Celtic 6–3 Falkirk
Hibernian 2–2 Dundee United — Hibernian won 2–0 on penalties

After such a successful return, the weekend certainly felt like more than just a one-off revival. With strong crowds, plenty of entertainment and a dramatic final, the Tennent’s Sixes may well have provided the perfect platform for the tournament to become an annual fixture once again.
